OTHER INFORMATION: Born 29 December 1910, the youngest son of George Thomas and Georgina (née Gawler) Bull. Sergeant Bull was the 2nd Pilot in a Wellington X (registration HE230) that was undertaking a special duty flight to detect enemy radar along the west coast of France when one of the engines failed and the plane was forced to ditch.He died along with: Flight Sergeant David George Aubrey (RNZAF 416996, captain and pilot) Sergeant Michael Stanley Barnard (RAFVR 1389302, navigator) Sergeant Ernest Llwellyn Jones (RAF 646251, rear gunner) The two crew who survived, Pilot Officer John Bernard Shepherd (RAFVR 136719, radar operator) and Sergeant Vincent Wathan (RAF 1314500, wireless operator), were captured by the Germans and spent the rest of the War as PoWs.
